Help:Guidelines

In order to maintain a consistant style across the pages of this wiki, we'll need to establish and abide by a set of guidelines when creating articles.

General Guildelines

Characters

We should follow these general rules when editing articles about characters:

• Articles should be named for the heroic identity of a character and not the secret identity: for example, "Rebound" as opposed to "Alex Winters".

• Articles for characters without codenames should be first name then last name: for example "Roger Creighton" as opposed to "Creighton, Roger".

• The player who runs a character should be the have the final say over what appears in the article for his page.

• Characters should be tagged with categories to represent their membership in different groups. All articles about characters should be members of the Characters group. Other possible categories include: Heroes, Villains, and NPCs. Assigning a category to an article can be done with this tag:

[[Category:Characters]]

• If the character doesn't have a codename, then you must specify how the name should be sorted. For example, let's look at the name Roger Creighton. In order to make sure he's sorted under C for Creighton ( as opposed to R for Roger ), we'd use a tag like this:

[[Category:NPCs|Creighton, Roger]]

Teams

We should follow these general rules when editing articles about teams:

• Teams and other groups of characters should be set up as an Article.
• If necessary, a Category can be set up as well, to contain articles relating to the team.

Places

• Places, like teams, should have any text placed as an Article, while Categories are used to define a geographical hierarchy.
• Generally, only universe Categories should appear on the Category:Infiniverse page, though for convenience planets in Universe-1 and Colonial Bay have direct links from there.
• Places should be placed in Categories in sensible hierarchies. The key levels of hierarchy are city, country, planet and universe; articles and subcategories should be placed in the smallest available category only (e.g. if something is in the Miami category don't also link it to United States of America or Earth). This however applies only to these key levels; if there were a Florida category then the Miami category would be be placed in both it and USA: this is to navigation taking too many stages.
• Characters, Teams, etc., should ideally be placed in the Category of the place(s) where they are based. In general this should be done at city level (or higher if appropriate); any associations with a geographical entity smaller than the city may additionally be noted (that is, it shouldn't be necessary to go to a level lower down than a city to find the characters associated with it).
